R.A.V.E. Space Final Conference, Ljubljana 3-4 December 2007

The Lead Partner, Ministry of the Environment and Spatial Planning of Slovenia, and the Partner responsible for project promotion, the Central European Initiative (CEI), are ready to welcome all participants to the R.A.V.E. Space Project Final Conference, to be held under the title “Values of Space and Sustainable Spatial Development: the Role of Education” at the Hotel Lev in Ljubljana (Slovenia) on 3-4 December 2007.
The Conference will be the occasion not only to present project achievements, but also to discuss the relevance of educational processes in the enhancement of common knowledge on spatial planning and values of space as a basis for developing skills for an active and responsible citizenship.
In this framework, plenary sessions have been planned for discussing educational strategies and methodologies for the analysis of school curricula, as well as for giving a wide overview on the synergies at international level with UNECE and Council of Europe and other important initiatives supporting the combination of educational policies and environmental issues.
In particular a roundtable will be organised in order to gather international experts and institutional representatives of competent Ministries of participating countries so to investigate the recommendations of the R.A.V.E. Space Project, as a contribution to the strengthening of spatial education in school systems, starting from the national experiences regarding the integration of spatial related topics in school curricula.
The debates will be complemented with a study visit in the old centre of Ljubljana as an example of field work on the values of space, as well as with two parallel workshops so to encourage an effective interaction among central authorities, experts, teachers and citizens.
The participation in the conference is FREE OF CHARGE.
